"My music will tell you more about me than I ever will." -Unknown
For Mother's Day this year, even if you have something else planned, we'd like to suggest that you give your Mom a little concert to let her know you love her. It probably won't matter to her what you play. Mom's are good at loving whatever you do for her. If you're the mom, I bet your kids could spare a few minutes to hear you play. So pick your favorite song, or something you're working on (or even her favorite song if you know it), and serenade her with it. It'll be a guaranteed favorite memory!
On April 30th, we completed our first ever Spring Music Recital. We had a total of 43 students perform and they all did a great job! We thank all the students who performed, for their great talent. We also thank all those who help them in their practice away from the school. And also we thank everyone who attended the recital to show support for the students. Additionally, we thank all those who brought food items to be donated to the London Food Bank. We received 45 items in total donations.
Royal Conservatory Music Exams
For those of you who might be interested in taking exams, here's a bit of information to help you decide if they are for you. The Royal Conservatory of Music is Canada's most common standard for measuring the skill of an aspiring musician. Most of our teachers can prepare students for these exams. The RCM Certificate program provides students with a "comprehensive and effectively sequenced system of music study" to help students maximize their music potential. The program is goal based which provides students with assessments, or exams, to work toward. The curriculum and assessments, once completed, are designed to provide students with the ability to study music independently so that music enjoyment can be life-long. Other more immediate benefits include high school credits for completion of RCM exams.
As a side note, the registration for the summer exam term (Theory - Aug. 5 & 6, Practical - Aug. 8-20) is open now until June 1st. For more information please ask Steve.
