Thank you for considering School of Music Arts. In an effort to be fair to teachers, students, parents and even the school, we have developed the following policies. These policies, when followed correctly, should result in a productive and enjoyable experience for everyone. Failure to comply with these policies may result in dismissal from the school. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
School Policies
Enrollment & Withdrawal
- Lesson times are reserved on a first come, first served basis and will not be held without completed registration and payment of introductory lesson fees.
- Lessons are scheduled weekly at the same time on the same day each week. No bi-weekly scheduling or other similar alternative is possible at this time.
- Teacher availability is subject to change.
- Lessons are billed monthly based on the number of expected lessons during the month.
- There are no refunds for music lessons except due to teacher absence. In such an event, refunds will be handled on a case by case basis.
- Notice of temporary or permanent withdrawal must be e-mailed to [email protected] at least 2 weeks prior to the withdrawal date.
Payments
- Lesson fees must be pre-paid ahead of any lesson being scheduled.
- Students must pay for the full month, including dates they expect to be away temporarily. The time being reserved is being reserved exclusively for that student and it is not possible to fill in empty weeks with another student.
- Payments are due the day before the billing month.
- No lesson is scheduled without pre-payment.
- There are no late fees for late payments, but late payments will result in immediate withdrawal and the lesson time will become unreserved until payment is resolved.
- A valid Visa or MasterCard credit card must be provided for pre-authorized credit card billing.
- Pre-authorized credit card payments, or Auto-pay, will be performed on the scheduled payment due date.
- Payments can be made at the school by cash, debit, Visa or MasterCard. Payments can also be sent via e-transfer to [email protected]. Payments can also be submitted online after the introductory lessons have completed through the online student portal which all registered students/parents have access to.
Late Arrival & Cancellations
- Minimum 1 week's notice must be given for any cancellation in order to reschedule the lesson.
- Make-up lessons for cancellations of less than 1 week's notice are not guaranteed and are given at the discretion of the teacher.
- If the lesson is missed without any notice whatsoever, the lesson is forfeited.
- Lessons must begin and end on time, and any time missed due to lateness is not recoverable.
- If a student is 15 minutes late or more, it will be assumed that the student is not attending and the lesson will be forfeited.
Teacher Absences
- Teachers must provide 2 weeks' notice for any absence.
- If a teacher must cancel with less than 2 weeks' notice, a substitute teacher, or an alternative lesson day and time with the student's regular teacher may be offered, however, students are not obligated to accept either offer and can receive 100% credit instead. It is advised that students accept either a substitute or alternative day and time, since missing the lesson entirely can negatively affect the student's progress.
- If a teacher is late, the missed time will be made up or credited back to the student.
Instruments, Music Books & Other Accessories
- Instruments, books and other accessories are not included in lesson fees but may be rented or purchased from School of Music Arts separately.
- Students must bring an instrument to each lesson (exception: piano and drums), and must have an instrument accessible at home for regular practice.
