Thank you for considering School of Music Arts.  In an effort to be fair to teachers, students, parents and even the school, we have developed the following policies.  These policies, when followed correctly, should result in a productive and enjoyable experience for everyone.  Failure to comply with these policies may result in dismissal from the school.  We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

School Policies

Enrollment & Withdrawal
  • Lesson times are reserved on a first come, first served basis and will not be held without completed registration and payment of introductory lesson fees.
  • Lessons are scheduled weekly at the same time on the same day each week.  No bi-weekly scheduling or other similar alternative is possible.
  • Lessons are billed monthly based on the number of expected lessons during the month.
  • Refunds for introductory lessons are only available if the school is notified of withdrawal at least 24 hours before the first lesson is scheduled and must be claimed within 1 month.
Payments
  • Lesson fees must be pre-paid ahead of any lesson being scheduled.
  • Payments are due the day before the billing month.
  • No lesson is scheduled without pre-payment.
  • There are no late fees for late payments, but late payments will result in immediate withdrawal and the lesson time will become unreserved.
  • Payments can be made at the school by cash, debit, Visa or MasterCard.  Payments can also be sent via e-transfer to admin@smartslondon.com.  Payments can also be submitted online after the introductory lessons have completed through the online student portal which all registered students/parents have access to.
  • It is strongly recommended that a Visa or MasterCard be provided for pre-authorized credit card billing.  This avoids the risk of late payment and subsequent withdrawal and loss of reservation.
  • Pre-authorized credit card payments or Auto-pay will be performed on the due date if Auto-pay has been authorized.
  • If a student will be absent for 4 consecutive weeks, the student may be withdrawn and may need to re-enroll depending on current waiting lists.
  • There are no refunds for lessons once the month has begun.  Expected absences should be declared before payments are made.
Late Arrival & Cancellations
  • Minimum 24 hours' notice must be given for any cancellation in order to reschedule the lesson or receive full credit for the absence.
  • Any lesson cancelled with less than 24 hours notice or no notice is billable.  Make-up lessons beyond this point are not guaranteed.
  • Lessons must begin and end on time, and any time missed due to lateness is not recoverable.
  • If a student is 15 minutes late or more, it will be assumed that the student is not attending and the lesson will be forfeited.
Teacher Absences
  • Teachers must provide 2 weeks' notice for any absence.
  • If a teacher must cancel with less than 2 weeks' notice, a substitute teacher, or an alternative lesson day and time with the student's regular teacher may be offered, however, students are not obligated to accept either offer and can receive 100% credit instead.  It is advised that students accept either a substitute or alternative day and time, since missing the lesson entirely can negatively affect the student's progress.
  • If a teacher is late, the missed time will be made up or credited back to the student.
Instruments, Music Books & Other Accessories
  • Instruments, books and other accessories are not included in lesson fees but may be rented or purchased from School of Music Arts separately.
  • Students must have access to an instrument for regular practice at home.
