Many of you know that my wife and I are expecting our baby at the end of this month, and I just wanted to reassure everyone that this will not affect lessons at all. I will be taking some time off, but my father, Paul, will be substituting for me during that time. He has run a music school before and should be able to handle most problems, however, he is not completely familiar with all of our procedures, so just try to be a little patient with him and if there is a problem, don't hesitate to contact me via e-mail which I will still be checking very frequently.
It's now March and we'd like everyone to start thinking about the spring recital if you haven't already. We have reserved the church gym and stage as we have done previously at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 615 Baseline Rd. E. The date for the recital will be April 29th. There will be two recitals, 4:00pm and 6:00pm. Both have a capacity of 25 separate performances. In other words, if you are learning two instruments and want to perform a song on both instruments, this will count as 2 performances. Just like last time, participation is voluntary by sign up sheet on a first come first served basis. At this point in time, there is only 1 spot taken, but they will fill up fast, so hurry to let us know if you'd like to participate.
For those of you who have not yet had an opportunity to perform at a recital, we strongly encourage you to reserve a spot. There are so many benefits to performing and just doing the lessons and your practicing, while good, isn't getting you the full experience of learning music. Performing in front of a group is hard, we know, and everyone watching you also knows, which means you will not be judged at all, but supported and encouraged. We love to watch our students perform, and we feel a great sense of pride by it. But don't do it for us, do it for you. Show us what you've got!
