Remember that there is still one more month of our practice contest. To encourage our students to continue practicing over the summer, each week we are giving away a $10.00 gift card to the store of the winner's choice. All you have to do to be eligible is practice your instrument at least 4 days each week for at least 15 minutes each day. We've had 4 winners already, and 5 more to go.

Operational Changes To Come
We have been reviewing our past year and debating several changes for quite some time. The biggest change that will affect students is a complete overhaul to our school policies. When we first developed our school policies, our goal was to be more flexible than any other school so that we could stand out from the crowd, but it's had some negative effects such as scheduling and income uncertainty, higher levels of stress among our staff and higher operational costs, and we can no longer afford to run our school the way we have been doing it.
In an article titled "Make-Up Lessons From An Economist's Point of View", the author of the article explains how lesson times are non-durable goods and teachers either lose their income or have to re-allocate personal time to work which results in burnouts. That being said, as many of you know, I myself am also a parent, and I know last minute situations can arise. Our new policies have been designed using input from our entire staff with the aim of providing equal fairness to everyone involved, and we think we've accomplished this while still providing the best flexibility above any other school.
Since there is not enough room to outline the details of the new policies, we invite you to review them yourselves here. These policies will take effect in September 2017 and each student will need to sign a copy so that we know that you know about the changes that are coming. We don't want anyone to be surprised when they begin. We encourage you to ask us questions if anything is unclear, and we appreciate your understanding as we look forward to another great year.
