maintenance tips

winter recital

For December, we'd like to offer some maintenance tips for our saxophone players.  To prevent mildew buildup inside the saxophone, use a swab that can be passed through the ligature and one for the body.  Also, protect your reeds to extend their life.  Most reeds are made of wood which can crack if they dry out too much.  A reed case can help to protect it from drying out too much.  Finally, after each use, remember to wipe the outside down with a clean cloth to keep it looking nice and shiny.

upcoming events

  • Winter Recital - December 8 - 5:00pm and 7:00pm (approx. 1 hour each)
  • Winter Break - December 23 - January 6 - School Closed - No Lessons
The winter recital is now just 1 week away.  As of today (December 1st), we have 3 remaining spots available for the 5:00pm recital and only 1 remaining spot in the 7:00pm recital.  If you have not signed up either directly online through the student portal, or by telling Steve (not the teacher), and you want to be in the recital, let Steve know.  If you only told the teacher, chances are you are NOT in the program, and due to limited space/time, there will not be any last minute additions admitted.  To ensure you are signed up, confirm with Steve by the end of the day on December 6th.  Recital programs will be printed on the 7th.

Both recitals will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 615 Baseline Rd. E.  There is ample parking available, and though the chapel itself has limited seating, we are able to add foldable chairs if necessary.  You are welcome to bring guests.  All students that are performing are requested to arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes early in order to get tuned, warmed-up, and have any last minute questions answered.  Students will be invited up on stage about 5 minutes before start time and will be seated in the order they will be performing.  All students will be expected to announce who they are and what song they will be performing so that the recital can move along at a good pace.  After they perform, we would like them to return to their seat on stage and wait patiently for the final performer.
"ABILITY is what you're capable of doing.  MOTIVATION determines what you do.  ATTITUDE determines how well you do.

january invoices

Picture
January invoices will be sent out earlier than normal and should be expected on or around December 10th to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to submit their payments before the holidays begin.  We close for the holidays after lessons are finished on Saturday, December 22nd and will not reopen until Monday, January 7th.  We will still be reachable through e-mail and voicemail, but no one will be at the school during that time.  Though it has taken some time to get back on track with our available payment options, we are happy to say that we can provide automated credit card payments for those of you who would like to set that up again.  We strongly encourage setting it up so that you don't risk missing the due date and losing your lesson time to another student.  Several of our teachers are either at their full capacity or very near it, and there is a high likelihood that a new student could swoop in and snag an unreserved spot.
