Winter recital

The winter recital will be held in a little over 1 month, on Saturday, December 8th at 5:00pm or 7:00pm.  There are still spots remaining if you would like to participate, but space is limited so sign up soon.  Please note that the deadline to sign up for the recital is December 6th, and no two students will be playing the same song on the same instrument.  So sign up now if you want a specific song.

For all those who might be debating whether or not you'd like to sign up, we highly recommend it.  Preparing for a performance is a great thing to work toward since it helps to push you a little harder which helps you to progress faster.  You may be nervous about performing in front of others, but you will not find a more supportive atmosphere for any presentation than in a music school recital.  Don't worry about making mistakes.  Mistakes are normal.  What matters is that you do your best and show everyone how great you are.

As always, there is no admission fee, and spectators are welcome, including parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts, friends, etc.  It's the season for giving and sharing, and I can think of nothing better than to share music with those we love.

upcoming events

  • Winter Recital - December 8 - 5:00pm or 7:00pm (approx. 1 hour each)
  • Winter Break - December 23 - January 6 - School Closed - No Lessons

maintenance tips

This month, we'd like to focus on our cello players.  After you play, remember to loosen your bow so the hair is slack to prevent the bow from warping.  Also, to keep your cello looking nice, use a soft cloth to wipe away any rosin dust.  Try to keep your cello in a stable environment since the wood can expand or contract if it is left too long in a hot or cold room, which could cause it to crack.  Finally, replace your strings at least once every year to keep them sounding bright and full.

Costume week

Picture
We had some very creative costumes show up for the costume contest, and it has already been difficult for our teachers to vote on their favorites.  It will take up to about a week to count all the votes since our teachers come in on different days, but once the votes have been tallied, the winners will be announced on the Student Portal News Feed.  Please check back soon.
